If you're on social media, you have probably seen at least one influencer talk about the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water*. My TikTok 'for you' page is full of people raving about how amazing this product is, as the lamellar water within the product deposits amino acids onto the damaged parts of your hair without weighing them down. Like me, you may be a little sceptical at first on how a product that has the word 'water' in the title will do anything magnificent for your hair, but of course I had to test it out for myself. I finally managed to grab it for just £4.95 after searching high and low in stores, as due to its popularity it was always sold out!

Is the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water worth all the TikTok hype

The wonder water claims to resurface the hair fibres, making it 10x smoother with a glassy shine and a silky touch in just 8 seconds! After using it for the first time, I couldn't quite believe how amazing my hair felt. It was so silky and smooth, which is pretty uncommon as I tend to have quite dry and frizzy locks. This product can be used alone, but I did apply the Garnier Ultimate Blends Banana Hair Food mask (you can read my review on this product here) after I had rinsed out the Wonder Water, which possibly contributed to the silkiness of my hair.

L'Oreal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water Hair Growth

After drying my hair with an old T-shirt (this helps reduce breakage), I combed it through with a wide toothed comb and applied my heat protectant ready to blow dry. I had seen a couple of people online mention that their hair felt a little brittle after blow-drying it, and I found after a couple of uses this started to happen to me. When I really love a product, I have a small habit of overusing it and end up having to cut back on my uses over time. I have trained my hair to sustain two washes a week, so I have been using this product every other week to maximise the results. Overall I would say this product is probably overhyped however, it has worked wonders for a lot of people, so it is always worth a try if you're into testing out products.

You can purchase the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Wonder Water from a range of retailers such as Look Fantastic, Superdrug and Boots.

GARNIER ULTIMATE BLENDS HAIR FOOD PAPAYA & BANANA MASK | FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR

DreamwithJessie Pinterest Profile

I have loved fashion since I was a pre-teen. My childhood best friend and I would save up our pocket money and go into the local town centre for a day of browsing, spending hours in the changing rooms trying on clothes we never going to afford, taking selfie’s and eating Gregg’s sausage rolls. As I’ve gotten older I’ve enjoyed following creators who post fashion content providing inspiration for outfit building. One of my favourite places to source out inspiration is Pinterest.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Mask Papaya & Banana

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was on a journey to take better care of my hair to try and repair some of the heat damage I’ve caused myself over the years (see here). After some extensive research and watching @hasinikay talk through the ingredients in haircare products on TikTok (I highly recommend checking out her channel) I decided to cut out silicone from my routine. I had heard so many good things about the Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food products due to being made up of 98% of natural ingredients whilst also being silicone free (yay) so I had to give them a go.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Mask Papaya & Banana

Each of the Garnier Hair Foods masks* have three different functions. A condition, rinse out mask or leave in conditioner. Personally I only ever use masks as exactly that as I find this leaves the best results, my hair also gets greasy very quickly, so it doesn't mix well with leave in treatments. I opted for this mask first as it was specifically for damaged hair. After using the Papaya mask for a couple of weeks, I can't rave about it enough. It has definitely strengthened my ends and given them the nourishment they were crying out for. I have heard quite a few people say they don't like the smell, but I think it is divine! I was originally using it twice a week, but I have had to cut this down as my hair gets used to products quite quickly and the results become less prominent as time goes on.

After loving the Papaya mask so much, I decided to grab the Banana Hair Mask* as this is the one I have seen bloggers rave about the most! I have only used this once so far, but I already love it! As mentioned above I loved the smell of the Papaya mask despite what others have said, whereas I'm not a huge Banana fan, so this wasn't my favourite scent, although this was obviously expected. Like I had done with the Papaya mask, I left this on my hair for 5 minutes (a little longer than the suggested 3 minutes) and then rinsed it out. I use an old t-shirt to try my hair to reduce the risk of breakage (trust me, this has really helped!) My hair has been SO soft for several days since using it which I'm putting down to the Shea ingredient as this is extremely beneficial to your locks! One problem I have always had with my hair is how chaotic it is when I wake up in the morning. But after using the mask I have seen a noticeable difference over the last few days as it hasn't looked like it's usual wild self, which is an absolute dream! This mask has definitely nourished my dry hair and tamed the pesky flyaways! I would highly recommend getting your hands on this if you're looking for something to treat your dry hair! I managed to find this in Savers for £3.49*

The top perfumes to gift this valentines day 2021

Valentine's Day is slowly approaching, and you're wondering what you can gift your significant other, friend or even yourself. I am a big lover of perfume as it makes me feel confident, fresh and ready to start my day. But perfume is more than just a scent, it can trigger memories in any moment, leaving you reminiscing about happy times and evoking thoughts about your loved ones. That's why it's the perfect gift for somebody you love.

One of my all-time favourite perfumes is Dolce and Gabbana's Light Blue*. My mum always used to buy this whenever we went on our family summer holiday, so I always think of her when I smell it. I often find that toilettes aren't as long-lasting as a parfum, but this is surprisingly the opposite. It has a lovely, strong, fresh scent that can last throughout the day. It is very noticeable, so if you're looking for something more subtle, this might not be the one for you. This is on the pricer side, with the smallest bottle (25ml) setting you back £45.00.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Parfum / Perfume 50ml

If you're looking for something a little sweeter, you may want to check out Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb*. This has become increasingly popular over the past few years, being rated one of the top perfumes on the market. I have found this to be very long-lasting and doesn't need to be reapplied throughout the day. The bottle is also gorgeous and looks lovely on your vanity. Again this is a little on the pricey side, priced at £56.00 for 30ML.

Ariana Grande Ari Perfume Parfum 100ml

Another favourite of mine is Ariana Grande's 'Ari'* parfum, perfect for anybody who loves a sweet scent. I know what you're thinking, that this probably initially appealed to teenagers. But this scent is so lovely that as a 24-year-old woman, I can't get enough of it! So much so that I am planning on checking out other perfumes that Miss Grande has to offer. It's very reasonably priced, ranging from £22.50 as the smallest bottle (30ml) with the largest (100ml) at £40.50! This is definitely a compliment magnet, as I get asked about it on a daily basis. Similar to the Viktor & Rolf bottle, this also looks very glamorous in your bedroom! I do occasionally have a top-up towards the end of the day. But in all honesty, the pros heavily outweigh, this very small con. Don't pass up on this bargain!

  4. Coco Chanel Mademoiselle Parfum Perfume Spray Twist 20ml

My all-time favourite perfume has to be Chanel Coco Mademoiselle* as it oozes elegance, luxury and femininity. I always feel so glamorous and sophisticated when wearing this perfume as it is of very high quality, what you would be expected from a high-end brand like Chanel. Of course, it also lasts all day and night! This would definitely be my ultimate perfume to be gifted this Valentine's Day and every Valentine's Day after that! You can buy this in a range of sizes, with the 35ml costing £57.00. When comparing this to other perfumes of a similar size and price, this stunning scent, it is worth every penny.

You can find all perfumes mentioned on The Perfume Shop or Superdrug website. The perfume shop are currently running a promotional offer where you can get 25% off your 2nd itemfor members or 20% off your 2nd item for non-members.

Garnier Food Papaya Hair Mask VO5 Coconut Hot Oil Treatment Superdrug Glycolic Tonic 5%

Another lockdown, another splurge. Last payday weekend I thought I’d treat myself to a little Superdrug (and H&M) order as I’ve been feeling a little hopeless this lockdown, as I imagine most of us are, and thought I deserved a little pick me up.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Papaya Hair Mask 390ml

One of my new year resolutions is to take better care of my hair and try to repair some of the heat damage I’ve caused myself over the years. I’ve been desperate to try the Garnier Hair Food products for a while now, after hearing bloggers and influencers rave about it. I know most people recommend the Banana range however, as I’m trying to target damaged hair the Papaya range was the best option for me! On first impressions, this mask smells divine! It left my hair feeling SO soft and manageable. You can read my full review here. You can purchase the Papaya mask for just £3.46 on the Superdrug website.

VO5 Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil 4x15ml

I used a VO5 Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil treatment just before Christmas and my hair stayed frizz and grease free for DAYS! This is unheard of for me, as my hair has a mind of its own! I was able to go FOUR whole days without washing my hair, when I usually have to do this every other day. Superdrug is also running a 2 for £6 on selected Vo5 products, so grab yourself 8 little tubes of heaven!

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic 5% 300ml

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic 5% 300ml

Another joy of this pandemic is maskne (yay!) I have had a long, frustrating battle with my skin and just last year I had started to see real improvements, having less breakouts than usual. That was until I started wearing a mask, and my skin is not happy about it! I thought I’d give the Superdrug’s own brand Naturally Radiant Glycolic Tonic 5% a go. I will also be reviewing this soon, so stay tuned for that! This currently on sale for £4.49 reduced from £9.99.

Let me know in the comments what your lockdown splurges have been!

A main focus of my blog is to create posts that I would enjoy reading, whilst focusing on products that are mostly neglected in the blogging world. Upon searching for a review of a MAC foundation, the results will come piling in, making it particularly easy to guess your shade and order online, due to the many swatches found online. Although I have tried many foundations since my teenage years, I have never found my perfect foundation. Until now.

Being a fairly pale gal, I find it extremely difficult to find a shade pale enough that doesn't have pink undertones. After a surprisingly lovely English summer and a couple of European city breaks, despite my fair skin, I had developed a golden tan. At the time, I was regularly using No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation (£14.50 - 30ml) in the shade Calico (the palest shade). For years, it had been a foundation that was the closet match (despite being a little pink) whilst providing full coverage and controlling my pesky oily skin.

NYX Matte foundation Shade 01 Ivory 02 Nude

Whilst browsing the Feel Unique website, I came across the NYX Matte foundation* (35ml) at a bargain price of £6. Although a little sceptical of the price, I went ahead ordering two shades 01 Ivory and 02 Nude (coming to a total of £10.80, £3.70 cheaper than my No7 foundation!). They worked perfectly together to match the rest of my body. However, as my tan has now faded, 01 has become my everyday foundation.

01 Ivory (left), 02 Nude (right)

Whilst I wouldn't say this is a full coverage foundation, it is perfectly buildable and has no trouble covering up spots and acne scars. One of my favourite aspects of the foundation is that it photographs surprisingly well, allowing me to wear it on a night out and not look like a ghost in those dreaded club photos.

For anybody looking for a cheap foundation, I would highly recommend giving it a go, especially due to the slightly larger than normal shade range (18 shades). Whilst not being entirely inclusive and needing a development in darker shades for those with deeper skin tones, it is definitely a step forward as many high street ranges hold a very poor choice of shades.

You can purchase the foundation in select Boots and Superdrug (those in which stock NYX) and online beauty retailers such as Feel Unique, Look Fantastic and Amazon.

Let me know what your favourite foundations are in the comments!
Only in the past year or so, I have fallen in love with highlighters. For years, I tried to give them a go, but for whatever reason, I had never really liked how they looked on my skin. Nothing pleases me more than a good old bargain (and free shipping of course!) so with 6 shades on offer at just £3 the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighters are a complete steal. On top of this Superdrug also offers 10% discount (with the occasional 15-20%) for all student NUS cardholders making them just £2.70 each!

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter | Iridescent Gold, Pearlescent Sheen & Peach Diamond

Whenever I pop into Superdrug for let's call it a "browse" I often notice that the full range of highlighters are not fully stocked, so after planning my outfits for an upcoming trip to V Festival I decided I would like some new colourful highlighters for the occasion. The Superdrug website provides free shipping for Superdrug members, this saves the trip into town to potentially be disappointed in the poor stock on offer in store, as the website provides all 6 shades within the range. After already owning Iridescent Gold (af), this is a dupe for the Nars Albatross highlighter (af) that retails at £27, for a year or so I decided to try Pearlescent Sheen (af) which I would describe as an ice blue shimmer and Peach Diamond (af) which is more of a pink shimmer rather than the suggested peach shade in the name.

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter | Iridescent Gold, Pearlescent Sheen & Peach Diamond

The highlighters come in a sturdy white case with a clear plastic lid. What I love about this product is that it fits nicely within my acrylic make up draws despite the packaging being quite thick plastic. The highlighter itself is designed with a swirly effect that almost looks too perfect to swirl my Nanshy Fan brush (af - use code HXXOBFC8Y8 for 10% off your order!) around.

MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter | Iridescent Gold, Pearlescent Sheen & Peach Diamond

Left to right: Pearlescent Sheen, Peach Diamond, Iridescent Gold

A critique I have with this highlighter is it is very difficult to pick up, especially for the first few uses. As you can see from the image above, Iridescent Gold (far right) is a lot stronger in pigmentation as I have used it several times before. The highlighter itself is quite large weighing at 7.5g (again total bargain!) therefore, takes a while to really dig into the product which is where pigmentation is best picked up.

Personally, these highlighters are perfect for a night out/evening look as it something different to my everyday makeup. For a day look I often reach for the NYX highlighter in the shade Ice Queen from the highlight and contour pro palette as it is my personal favourite due to it being a lot more subtle.

You could tell exam period was vastly approaching due to the excessive breakouts on my skin. I have suffered with troubled skin for 6 years. In the months coming up to exams my skin had surprisingly being on my side with redness to the minimum and the odd spot here and there. I put this down to having a couple of weeks when I didn't have many deadlines hoarding over me. On top of this, I was able to get a good night's rest and could focus on a daily skincare routine. However, once I decided that I should stop procrastinating and start revising my skin took a U-turn and drastically went down hill.

Over the past 6 years I have tried everything for my skin, you name it I've tried it. After having a chat with one of my housemates, she recommended 'The Body Shop® Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask'* after having used it herself for a couple of weeks. As a student money is limited, so I was slightly put off by the £16 price tag just for a face mask and due to being in an exclusive range it wasn't included in the 30-40% off deals The Body Shop® regularly have on (there are lots of other amazing skincare products included in this in which I will touch upon in future posts). I took the plunge and ordered the mask. I was also enticed by good reviews (who am I kidding, I just like shopping) into buying the Tea Tree Toner which was included in the 40% deal (hooray!)

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask Review

I was presently surprised by how large the pot was once I had received it, making the £16 a little more worthwhile. Of course, I never really pay attention to how many ML it says on the website (75ml). In terms of packaging, I was thrilled to discover it had a small plastic lid in between the screw on top, as this helps with the product not leaking elsewhere. The mask itself is a muddy grey (I must admit it doesn't look very appealing, but with all due respect it is a dream!)

On the label, it is recommended to cleanse your face before use, so I went ahead and used my Neutrogena 2 in 1 wash mask and then finished with a drop (less is certainly more with this one!) of the body shop tea tree toner onto a cotton pad.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask Review

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask Review

I then went onto applying the mask across my face. Almost instantly I could feel a burning sensation (I suspect this was from the tea tree within the mask) despite not applying so generously, as stated on the pot, due to being worried about my sensitive skin reacting badly. This sensation slowly turned into cooling and tightening of the skin. It is recommended to invest in a face mask brush to apply the product, as I can't imagine it would be very pleasant to apply with your fingers. If you're on a budget, then I would suggest using a concealer or foundation brush that you already own. I used a real technique concealer brush to apply the product (I mean why would I go buy a face mask brush when I already have the same thing right!?)

The mask itself dried fairly quickly, with 5 minutes in it being mostly dry. However, since using this  product several times, I had opted to apply more generous amounts with it taking a little longer to set. After roughly 10 minutes, the mask had fully set and was ready to wash off. Something I was impressed with was the exfoliation given whilst removing it, as it left my skin feeling soft and refreshed, My pores were noticeably smaller and left my skin glowing. After using the product once or twice a week for over a month, I would definitely recommend this for anybody with blemish prone, oily skin as it truly "draws out impurities and refines the appearance of pores for healthy-looking skin with a glow that shows".
